YOUTH CORNER NEWS!
This summer our youth fellowship (UMYF) includes new seventh graders through seniors who have graduated. On Sunday, August 17, the youth who have completed 6th grade will move to the youth Sunday School class. Graduating seniors are welcome to participate through the end of summer in all activities. Sunday July 13: Sunday school — Karen N. Carolyn J. will provide snack and will sponsor. Youth will attend the church Ice Cream Social which begins VBS and then play games. Note: Youth are invited to help with recreation activities during Vacation Bible School, (Monday-Thursday, July 14-17, from 6-8 p.m.) Contact Cheryl or Marla Brems. Full info about VBS! Sunday July 20: Sunday school — Beth B. We will leave the church @ 4:15 p.m. to attend a T- Bones game! Cost is $6.00, plus snack money if desired. Game starts at 5:05 p.m. RSVP to Pastor Cheryl by Sunday July 13. Sponsors: Karen N. and several others. Monday, July 21st: Parent Meeting Monday, July 21 at 7:00 p.m., in room 363 will be a parent meeting continuing the process of planning youth events for the future. Our youth are welcome to come to this meeting. Several already have, and it has been great. We are working hard to listen to what our youth have expressed for their hopes and needs. Thursday, July 24: Argentine Food Kitchen Asbury UMYF’s day to serve at the Argentine Food Kitchen is Thursday, July 24. We will provide, cook, and serve lunch for their clients. Please let me know if you can come and help out. We will meet at the church at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday and return around 2:00 p.m. Lunch is served from 11:30 to 1:00, and we need at least 8 people to go down and help. This is a great opportunity to serve the community and get some community service hours in. Sunday July 27: Sunday school — Karen N. Lee S. will provide snack supper. It's Movie Night Sponsors: Elaine H. and other. Monday, July 28th: Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun Day All Asbury youth are invited to join youth from accross the Kansas East Conference for a day at Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun on Monday, July 28. The deadline is Tuesday, July 22. Cost for the day is $42.00. If you are interested in going, or if you have questions, please call or email Cheryl now! Sunday August 3: (No Sunday school) — Worship at 10:00 a.m. only It's Bowling Night (Eat at bowling alley.) Sponsors: Lori C. and others. August 8-10: Summer Float Trip We will float on the North Fork River at the Sunburst Ranch. The cost for the weekend trip is $115, which includes 2 days of canoeing, and meals at Sunburst Ranch. Lunch on Friday on the way down and Sunday on the way back will be additional. Please RSVP to Pastor Cheryl by Sunday, July 27th.
