Missions & Service Opportunities - Faith into Action We are called, wherever we are in the world,to love all of God's creation and to demonstrate that love with action. United Methodists have believed, from the beginning, that each of us is called to participate in the outreaching ministry of Jesus Christ. Methodism's founder, John Wesley, described this work in simple, practical terms: "Do all the good you can, in all the places you can, to all the people you can." Here's how you may become involved: Children's Agencies Assist with collections, volunteering, and tutoring at agencies such as Della Lamb, Spofford, or TLC for Children and Families. Contact Pastor Cheryl Schmeling (432-5573) for more information. Cross-Lines Community Outreach Help coordinate, organize, and transport food and clothing collections to Cross-Lines once a month. Volunteer in the food or clothing pantry. Contact Libby Schoeni (649-5994). Visit Cross-Lines.org Honk & Holler Help feed the homeless on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. Contact Diane Larsen (381-1036). Hunger Awareness Asbury prepares and serves meals at the Argentine Food Kitchen at Cross-Lines in KCKS on the 4th Thursday of each month. Serve meals at Lazarus' Table at Grand Avenue Temple in KCMO on the 3rd Saturday of each month. To volunteer to serve with a group for either of these ministries, contact Elaine Hager (384-1269). Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) There are many opportunities to serve homeless families when they are guests in our church by donating supplies, planning activities, preparing meals, being an overnight host, and much more.
